The Town Hall sponsored the very first “Canada Day in the Glen” parade and picnic way back in 1976 as a way to thank residents of the Glen for their support in renovating and re-opening the building as a Town Hall. Every street was encouraged to enter their own float – a tradition that continues to this day!
The celebration has gone from strength to strength ever since, attracting not only residents of the Glen but also their extended families, friends, friends-of-friends, and thousands more who make the trip to Glen Williams an annual tradition.
It’s a huge undertaking for a village Town Hall, and it can only be achieved thanks to the help of nearly 100 local volunteers every year.
Shuttle buses will run from 9 am until 4 pm from the Real Canadian SuperStore in Georgetown to the event and return. Parking in Glen Williams is very limited as streets will be closed and inaccessible during the event and along the parade route.
