If you’re around come outdoors to the ravine! By engaging in the Willow Park Ecology Centre’s Volunteer Mentorship Program, you will both learn about local ecology stewardship and help us to maintain (and enhance) a unique, biodiverse ravine space. We look forward to your participation.
Join our team for summer weekday morning volunteering and help with park projects. General projects that we need your help with are the upkeep of unique educational gardens, trails renewal and trim back, habitat themed areas and built structures and program resources. The details are mapped out based on site conditions and available volunteers and their interests and skillsets.
Signup online at willowparkecology.org and fill out our waiver also found there. An orientation email will follow. Plan to bring garden gloves if you have any (we can also provide them), and protective clothing (e.g. long pants and firm shoes, hat/sunscreen). Bring a refillable water bottle. Be prepared for the great outdoors!! And to leaves feeling satisfied and a little more physically fit (after all gardening, etc. is exercise!). And after caring for nature’s gifts, you can always cool down by Silver Creek. It’s nice and cool (10 degrees C) for the cold-water fishes of the Credit River watershed.
Board of Directors’ volunteers and our part-time staff are grateful for the help of all other volunteers. The Centre was started through community volunteerism in 1998 in partnership with the Credit Valley Conservation and the Town of Halton Hills Council and staff. It continues to be managed as a not-for-profit organization through volunteers as a unique Nature Park supporting local ecology and providing Education and Recreation Programs in the Town of Halton Hills.
