The reading and understanding of Indigenous literatures is crucial to Indigenous-settler relations in this country. Indigenous voices have important messages to convey and nowhere is this more apparent than in Indigenous Children's literature. Children are at the centre of the circle in every single Indigenous community. Join Nancy Cooper as she discusses the importance of Indigenous Children's literature in Canada today.
Nancy is a Two-Spirited woman from the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. Born and raised throughout Northern Ontario, Nancy currently lives in Toronto with her family. She is the author of two children's books, The Trading Tree and Biindigen! Amik Says Welcome.

You will get to take home delicious produce from the garden, and help us grow food for local food security organizations. High school students can earn volunteer hours.

A wide selection of vendors, artisans and young entrepreneurs participate in our market weekly and for the full season. Downtown Acton businesses are present and represented at the market each week. Local restaurant menus, store flyers and giveaways can be found at the Downtown Acton BIA tent.
Prospect Park also offers easy access parking, a kids playground, splashpad, boat launches, canoe rentals a walking path, an off-leash dog park and other recreational amenities seasonally.

Need to declutter? The Rotary Club of Acton is once again looking forward to seeing you at their Acton Rotary Trunk Sale. It will take place every Saturday morning, starting on the Victoria Day Weekend and running through to Thanksgiving from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm. The Acton Rotary Trunk Sale will be set up in the Town of Halton Hills parking lot, adjacent to the Acton GO Station.
Anyone with something to sell can rent a spot each week for the new rate of just $20 (cash). No Reservations are required, just show up any time after 7am. All proceeds from the entry fees collected by the Rotary Club of Acton help fund their many charitable causes.

Join CVC and Trees for Halton Hills to help make the Hungry Hollow SNAP neighbourhood more sustainable and ready for a changing climate. This event is part of the Hungry Hollow Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP).
Help plant native trees and shrubs in the Hungry Hollow Ravine. Trees help fight climate change by storing carbon dioxide and providing natural cooling on hot summer days. They also create habitat for local wildlife and add beauty to your community.

Dr. Michael Dixon is University Professor Emeritus and Director of the Controlled Environment Systems Research Facility (CESRF) at the University of Guelph. Dr. Dixon is the visionary behind the Tomatosphere™ project, which allows Canadian students to grow seeds that have been to space. He will be discussing the Canadian Space Agency’s Deep Space Food Challenge, and he will also share insights on new, sustainable technologies for food production that are inspired by space exploration.
