Grab your fishing gear and join the Mayor’s Fishing Derby as part of the Fairy Lake Revival initiative! This family-friendly event is all about enjoying the outdoors while helping protect the lake’s ecosystem by removing the invasive Round Goby fish.
Event Highlights: • Prizes for longest fish and most gobies caught (age categories: 10 & under, 11-17, 18+) • Beginner’s fishing area and tackle loan booth (limited supplies) • Free live bait while supplies last • Canoe and kayak rentals by Holy Cow Canoe Company • Fun activities like a nature scavenger hunt, kiddie pool fishing, and button-making • Environmental education booths to learn about invasive species and protecting local habitats
🎟️ Important Info:
Anglers must have a valid Ontario fishing license (some age and status exemptions apply – check before attending)
Bring your own fishing gear and bucket if possible
Life jackets are strongly recommended for children near the water
Only non-motorized boats are allowed on Fairy Lake
This event is offered in partnership with Credit Valley Conservation and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. Come out for a great day at the lake and help keep Fairy Lake healthy for generations to come – one cast at a time!
